Editing- Production diary.

Introduction section.

The introduction is made up of clips from old rough cuts of skate videos i discovered on YouTube. I edited these together for the introduction along with the music and the voiceover. For the music in the introduction i knew i needed something that is scary and horror themed to match and set the tone of the video from the very beginning. I also used a flame effect in the introduction when displaying the name of the video to emphasise the videos theme.

I achieved this by installing a flame effect template from the internet and adding it to my timeline. i added it twice on the top and the bottom of the screen to create the effect of the full screen being engulfed in flames. I like this editing technique as it allows for a dramatic opening scene.

For the first scene in the video i was filmed in different areas on Sunniside, smiling and giving 2 thumbs up. I decided that the comedic theme in the video also needed to be apparent in the early stages, therefore i did this to make the character 'Christian Goodman' come across as unintentionally funny at his own expense by doing something embarrassing and humorous.

I added energetic music over the top of this scene to mimic the character going into action and getting prepared. The music applies suspense and drama to the scene.

To smoothly transition between scenes i used 'dip to black video transitions at the ending clip on one scene and on the opening clip on the next one. These were set to 3 seconds and was to ensure there were no choppy transitions going from scene to scene, which makes for a more enjoyable viewing experience./
