Analysis of existing products

Revolutions On Granite (2022) This is a documentary style film made produced by Thrasher Magazine and posted to their website and YouTube channel. The documentary focuses on the skateboarding scene in Kyiv, Ukraine. The footage was filmed in 2021, before the Russian invasion and before the city of Kyiv was evacuated. The film mentions the impact skating has had on the city of Kyiv, particularly Kyiv Square, and how skating has improved the scape of the city and brought to energy to a lifeless and dull city. It tells the story of a group of Ukrainian skaters from the late 1980s overcoming poverty, hunger and war and finding community to escape oppression. Audience Research The target audience specified in the brief are aged 16 to 25 and are of no specific gender. The majority of my audience is presumably from the North East although this is not definite as it could be watched by people from outside of the North East wanting to learn about the Sunderland skate scene as skating has quite a large audience across the UK.  Psychographics  Upon researching the 7 psychographic categories i have decided that my audience best fits in the 'reformers' tier. To me, skaters are often humble people who are not interested in frivolous, materialistic possessions. They value community, individualism and freedom of expression. With this information i can determine that my audience may also fit into the reformer category. For this Project, the client is 'Sunderland Culture' who are holding a new mixed media exhibition which aims to exhibit young media talent in the North East in the form of either a short 15 minute film/ documentary, a print media campaign or a combination of the two. The intended target audience for this documentary is people between the ages of 16 and 25. The aim of this campaign to 'engage young people and to educate them on local talent, with the aim of developing the city's cultural awareness and diversity.  Created in April 2016,  Sunderland Culture are a charitable orginisation aiming to 'bring  together Sunderland's most important cultural assets and activities'. Their aim is to improve life for everyone in Sunderland through culture and to improve the image of Sunderland to people inside and outside Sunderland and to inform people about the cultural history of Sunderland.
